Our Programs

At Keystone Montessori School, children are enrolled in mixed-age classrooms, meaning that they will be in the same classroom for a full three years.

This allows them to benefit from child-to-child mentoring and leadership opportunities, as children move from being the youngest in the class, to the oldest. Additionally, the children get to have the same teacher for a full three years, fostering a close relationship with their teacher.

Each level is a five-day-a-week program.

Primary Program (ages 3 to 6 years of age)

Our Primary classrooms are made up of children from three years old through six years of age. Within Primary, families may choose between a half-day or full-day schedule. While all children are welcome to attend full day, our half-day option is available for younger Primary students (ages 3–4). Younger children have a short rest period in the afternoon, while the older children continue working and receiving lessons.

Elementary Program (ages 6 – 12 years of age)

Our Lower Elementary classrooms bring together children ages 6-9 (1st through 3rd grade) and Upper Elementary serves children 9-12 years of age (4th through 6th grade).

Programs Offered:

  • Primary Half Day
  • Primary Full Day
  • Lower Elementary
  • Upper Elementary

* Because our classrooms are intentionally mixed-age communities, we consider both the needs of the child and the balance of the classroom when making enrollment decisions. This means we look at factors such as age and gender to help ensure a balanced mix of children.

It can be more challenging to enroll a child at the top end of the age range for each program who has not had previous Montessori experience, since the classroom is designed for children who grow and learn together over a three-year cycle. Our goal is always to create the best possible environment for every child, while maintaining the balance that helps the classroom community thrive.
